THQ has confirmed to IGN that it will ship Darksiders II in 2012 for PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3.

Death replaces War as the lead character this time with the story running along the same track as the original Darksiders.

"This epic journey propels Death through various light and dark realms as he tries to redeem his brother War, the horseman who was blamed for prematurely starting the Apocalypse in Darksiders," THQ said of the game's story in a press release.

Darksiders II features a "dramatically larger world" than its predecessor, full weapon and armor upgrade systems, and more complex dungeons.
